EV Charging Levels
Electric vehicle charging comes in three levels. Level 1 uses standard 120V outlets. Level 2 requires 240V installation. DC Fast Charging provides rapid charging at public stations.
Level 1 Charging
Level 1 adds 3-5 miles of range per hour. Standard with most EVs, no installation needed. Works for low-mileage drivers or overnight charging. Too slow for daily commuters needing quick turnaround.
Level 2 Charging
Level 2 adds 25-30 miles of range per hour. Requires 240V outlet or hardwired installation. Typical home charging solution for most EV owners. Fully charges most EVs overnight.
DC Fast Charging
DC Fast adds 100-200 miles in 30 minutes. Available at public charging stations. Ideal for road trips and quick top-ups. Not recommended for daily use—may affect battery longevity.
